WD-40 : Who knew!
Originally invented in the 1950s to develop a rust-preventing solvent
and degreaser for the aerospace industry, WD-40 spray has at least 2,000 practical uses
for house-cleaning, gardening, furniture maintenance, farming, and
more. Commonly used to repel water and prevent corrosion, WD-40 can also
be used to help lubricate stuck objects (like zippers and LEGO parts),
make shovels slippier for more efficient use, and even keep pigeons from
pooping on your balcony.

WD-40 who knew? "Water Displacement #40". The product began from a search for a rust preventative solvent and degreaser to protect missile parts. WD-40 was created in 1953, by three technicians at the San Diego Rocket Chemical Company. Its name comes from the project that was to find a 'Water Displacement' Compound. They were finally successful for a formulation, with their fortieth attempt, thus WD-40. The 'Convair Company' bought it in bulk to protect their atlas missile parts. Ken East (one of the original founders) says there is nothing in WD-40 that would hurt you. When you read the 'shower door' part, try it. It's the first thing that has ever cleaned that spotty shower door. If yours is plastic, it works just as well as on glass. It's a miracle! Then try it on your stove-top. It's now shinier than it's ever been. You'll be amazed. WD-40 Uses: 1. Protects silver from tarnishing. 2. Removes road tar and grime from cars. 3. Cleans and lubricates guitar strings. 4. Gives floor that 'just-waxed' sheen without making them slippery. 5. Keeps the flies off of Cows, Horses, and other Farm Critters, as well. (Ya gotta love this one!!!) 6. Restores and cleans chalkboards. 7. Removes lipstick stains. 8. Loosens stubborn zippers. 9. Untangles jewelry chains. 10. Removes stains from stainless steel sinks. 11. Removes dirt and grime from the barbecue grill. 12. Keeps ceramic / terracotta garden pots from oxidizing. 13. Removes tomato stains from clothing. 14. Keeps glass shower doors free of water spots. 15. Camouflages scratches in ceramic and marble floors. 16. Keeps scissors working smoothly. 17. Lubricates noisy door hinges on both home and vehicles doors. 18. It removes that nasty tar and scuff marks from the kitchen flooring. It doesn't seem to harm the finish and you won't have to scrub nearly as hard to get them off. Just remember to open some windows if you have a lot of marks. 19. Remove those nasty Bug guts that will eat away the finish on your car if not removed quickly! 20. Gives a children's playground gym slide a shine for a super fast slide. 21. Lubricates gearshift and mower deck lever for ease of handling on riding mowers... 22. Rids kids rocking chair and swings of squeaky noises. 23. Lubricates tracks in sticking home windows and makes them easier to open. 24. Spraying an umbrella stem makes it easier to open and close. 25. Restores and cleans padded leather dashboards in vehicles, as well as vinyl bumpers. 26. Restores and cleans roof racks on vehicles. 27. Lubricates and stops squeaks in electric fans. 28. Lubricates wheel sprockets on tricycles, wagons, and bicycles for easy handling. 29. Lubricates fan belts on washers and dryers and keeps them running smoothly. 30. Keeps rust from forming on saws and saw blades, and other tools. 31. Removes grease splatters from stove-tops. 32. Keeps bathroom mirror from fogging. 33. Lubricates prosthetic limbs. 34. Keeps pigeons off the balcony (they hate the smell). 35. Removes all traces of duct tape. 36. Folks even spray it on their arms, hands, and knees to relieve arthritis pain. 37. Florida's favorite use is: 'cleans and removes love bugs from grills and bumpers.' 38. The favorite use in the state of New York, it protects the Statue of Liberty from the elements.
39. WD-40 attracts fish. Spray a little on live bait or lures and you
will be catching the big one in no time. Also, it's a lot cheaper than
the chemical attractants that are made for just that purpose. Keep in mind though, using some chemical laced baits or lures for fishing are not allowed in some states. 40. Use it for fire ant bites. It takes the sting away immediately and stops the itch. 41. It is great for removing crayon from walls. Spray it on the marks and wipe with a clean rag.
42. Also, if you've discovered that your teenage daughter has washed
and dried a tube of lipstick with a load of laundry, saturate the
lipstick spots with WD-40 and rewash. Presto! The lipstick is gone! 43. If you spray it inside a wet distributor cap, it will displace the moisture, allowing the engine to start.

Thought this is a good tip to shared with others, if you find it
useful share it ..........
What to take to bed with you - not
a joke .
Pretty neat idea.
Put your car keys beside your bed at
night.
Tell your spouse, your children, your
neighbors, your parents, your Dr's office, the check-out girl
at the market, everyone you run across. Put your car keys
beside your bed at night.
If you hear a noise outside your home
or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic
button for your car alarm. The alarm will be set off, and the horn
will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car
battery dies. This tip came from a neighborhood watch
coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you
start to put your keys away, think of this: It's a security
alarm system that you probably already have and requires no
installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere
inside your house and will keep honking until your battery
runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob
chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage. If
your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into
your house, odds are the burglar/rapist won't stick around.
After a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out
their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the
criminal won't want that. And remember to carry your keys
while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work
the same way there. This is something that should really be
shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual
abuse crime.
Would also be useful for
any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you can't reach a
phone.
It is possible, with modern technology, to successfully bond tile to tile. Done properly, a new tiled installation can be placed permanently over an existing tiled installation. If the existing tiled surface is dimensionally stable, has the required expansion joints, and is satisfactorily on-plane, this method can be used. Its desirability, however, rest on the user.
The main drawback to this method is its increases in dimensions and the aesthetic appearance differences. This simply means that the new installation may not fit. For example, if the floor tile is already at a maximum height in a room, it may not be possible to add additional height. Or, if the existing tile in a tub enclosure is already at the maximum thickness allowed for the wall, this method cannot be used.
The aesthetic differences mentioned also include the way the new installation will receive the trim. Generally, the new installation will have to receive some additional trim element in order to be visually appealing.
In the case of flooring, it may be necessary to install a threshold to make up for the difference in height. In the case of wall tile, additional trim elements will need to be used for the same visually appealing reason.
Once the decision has been made to use the tile over tile method, the next question deals with what type of bonding agent will be used. Certain types of organic adhesives, Portland cement mortars, and epoxy mortars can be used. The Manufacturers recommendations should always be used.
The first step in the tile over tile process is thoroughly washing the existing tile to remove any wax, oil, and coatings that would adversely affect a good bond. The next step, which is recommended, is to rough up the surface with a carborundum disk or belt sander. This step is followed by a fresh water wash to remove the sanding particles .
Wacky and crazy uses for household items. Whiten Sneakers with toothpaste, Secure a screw with nail polish, Unstick plastic wrap with tape, remove crayon and wax spills with a hair dryer and many more remedies I had no idea where possible.
Everyone knows that IKEA is cheap stylish furniture that you have to put together yourself once you get home. More than often after I have been shopping at IKEA, I have unfortunately found myself wondering where certain parts are since they are not included in the package that I hauled home. And don’t get me wrong, there have been parts missing, and that’s the downside of IKEA. When it works and everything is included, there is no reason why you would buy the exact same lamp at LightStyle for twice as much just because it has a wooden foot.
However, there is another way to do things after you have brought home your new furniture. If you do it the hacker style, you might find that there are plenty more uses for those two chairs that you suddenly found didn’t fit into the overall visual composition. If you are one of the people that welcomes a little bit of odd yet functional interior design, then you will definitely like the IKEA Hackers website.
The ultimately best use for a couple of chairs that don’t belong really seems to be to create bedroom dress boys out of them. The more I look at these, the more I see how awesome they are. Not only do they bring some creativity to the room, but they also add a true use. Instead of throwing those clothes in a pile on the floor, use the dress boys to help you keep your bedroom tidy and neat. It’s definitely IKEA hacker style. You can find the full tutorial on the IKEA Hackers website.
When contemplating your homeowners or renters insurance, consider this idea to speed things along. Use your digital camera and take pictures or video of all four walls in each room, close ups of opened drawers and closets, bathroom cabinets, garage contents opened tool boxes, etc.
Clean your hands with lemon juice or vinegar. The acid neutralizes the caustic alkalinity in these materials and keeps skin from drying out.
Trying to figure out how low or high a light fixture should be!!!
Deciding how a light fixture should hang isn't easy. The Picture below shows the heights I recommend (measured from the bottom of the light fixture) for 3 or more settings in your home. Those with high ceiling could raise the light fittings slightly but for sake of clearance, you shouldn't lower them.
WHERE THE COOKING RANGE IS PLACED IN THE KITCHEN REFLECTS ON THE WELL-BEING OF THE FAMILY
The stove is an important element in house feng shui. It affects the health and financial status of the occupants. From the feng shui practitioner’s perspective, the positioning of the stove can be adjusted to fine-tune the occupant’s physical health condition and improve his financial status.
Here are the do’s & don’ts:
- The stove must be placed at a ‘hidden location’ in the kitchen. It is not advisable for it to be visible from the main door specifically, and back door or side door generally. It means that you should not be able to see the stove when you are standing at the main door entrance. If the stove can be seen from the main door, it not only means that money will be leaking out, which results in weak money luck, but also indicates that the housewife is exposed to outside seduction. If the stove is facing the side or back door directly, this would cause money to be ‘lost’.
- The stove should not be placed at the center of the house. This could bring misfortune.
- The stove should not be facing the toilet door directly as this would bring poor health. The situation would be even worse if the stove is facing the toilet bowl directly.
- If the stove is in a position with the toilet above it on the second floor, this could bring bad luck and cause the owner to have a weak immune system.
- Having a beam above the stove can bring spinal cord-related health problems to the owner.
- A drainage system located under the stove can cause miscarriages and sickness in relation to the reproductive system and abdomen.
- Having a washing machine or water tank at the back of the stove can cause a fluctuation in the financial condition of the owner.
- Placing the stove near/side by side the refrigerator or water tap can bring about antagonistic social relationship for the occupants.
- A stove facing the kitchen door directly can cause bad health.
- A stove that faces a tap can bring about accidents.
- A stove should not face the altar.
- There should not be a walkway at the back of the stove. Normally, this brings unstable income to the occupant.
- All knifes in the kitchen must be kept in a drawer and not be visible all the time.

Good Feng Shui in bedroom is important for the health and relationship of couples.
- Wedding photo is one of the very good sources of romance in Feng Shui. Do not hang your wedding photo on top of your bed – should hang in front of the bed.
- Other photos that represent romantic feeling such as flower, lovers should not hang at the exact East, West, South and North sectors of the room as these may introduce third-part affairs.
- The bed should always have a solid wall behind it, not any window. Solid wall acts as a support and thus to ensure to get a deep sleep every night.
- The wall behind the bed should not have any altar. This will cause health problems.
- If possible, there should also be no mirrors in the bedroom. Especially directly in front of the bed, or facing the room door. Mirrors should also not face the side of the bed.
- Mirror in the bed room should not face to any window as it may attract negative energies from outside.
- If there are mirrors inside the built in cupboard, the mirrors should not reflect to the bed when the cupboard door is open.
- The TV screen acts like a mirror. Therefore, TV should not face to the bed directly.
- Do not paint the room in red, pink, brown or yellow colour as these represent fire and earth elements. It can cause sickness especially when the inauspicious yearly forces reach the room area.
- If the bathroom door is facing to the bed directly, ensure that the bathroom door is closed all the time. An auto door-closer can be installed at the toilet door.
- Ceiling fan cannot be installed at the centre point of the bed. Try to align the fan to be away from the bed.
- Do not place plants inside the bed room. Plants can be placed in the bathroom.

In this edition of Feng Shui Tips, we're going to have a look at mirrors, that ever-present household fixture, and how it relates to Feng Shui.
As you may very well know, mirrors are very popular Feng Shui cures. You can't go through ten Feng Shui books or websites without finding something about mirrors in eight of them. The reason for the mirror's popularity in Feng Shui is its versatility. Mirrors are reputed to do many things, depending on who you ask. I'll be sharing with you some of the more popular applications; some fundamental, others more modern, and all will be explained along with some when using mirrors in Feng Shui applications.
Mirrors of protection
Protection of the premises is the most traditional use of mirrors in Feng Shui. A small mirror, placed above entrances, can deflect sha qi away from the premises, where it would otherwise wreak havoc upon the occupants, otherwise. This is not to say that the mirror can differentiate between good and bad qi. It will deflect good and bad qi alike; it is up to the user to place it appropriately. Entrances and openings that face poison arrows like junctions, cracks in the sky, etc., are good candidates for the mirror.
Hence the use of the bagua mirror, which is a mirror fortified with the symbols of the bagua in the Early Heaven arrangement. Mirrors such as these could be plain, concave, or convex. Of the three, the convex mirror is considered the most 'aggressive', as qi deflected off it could harm others, like your neighbours, or even good ol' Spot in his kennel.
Take note of certain details regarding the mirror. Firstly, bagua mirrors should be restricted to the exterior of the house, as they are considered too active for the interior. Secondly, in Feng Shui, everything is governed by scale. Hence it would be unrealistic to expect a mirror (bagua'ed or otherwise) to completely deflect incoming sha qi from the extremely busy six-lane junction directly opposite your door.
Where possible, if the Sha Qi attacking your door is really severe, you may want to consider using another door or tilting your existing one.
A big Do Not Do
A serious "Do Not Do" is sleeping directly facing a mirror. Facing an exposed mirror for the entire duration of your sleep, day after day, is not a good idea. Qi deflected off the mirror and onto your person will play havoc with your internal energies; your body, trying to rest, would receive active qi, and most likely disturb your good nights sleep. A few nights of that and you will definitely feel lethargic in the morning and less than productive.
If a mirror directly faces your bed, simply angle it away if it is movable, or place it under a shroud when you sleep.
Making an area more Yang
In some houses where the rooms are long and the windows are not large enough, light coming through the window do not reach the other side of the room. This space could be excessively Yin, and even gather stagnated qi. Needless to say, this is not desirable.
Place a mirror so that it would reflect sunlight into the "dead" area, resulting in a livelier room. Be careful in doing this. The mirror should reflect sunlight into the room and not straight back out the window. If the latter happens, then most likely the room would end up worse than before.
Hiding poison arrows in the house
This is a rather minor application, in my opinion. Some Feng Shui experts suggest using mirrors to hide protruding corners and pillar edges that serve as poison arrows. While sharp edges could indeed be poison arrows, do remember that in Feng Shui everything is governed by scale. Big edges (like mountains and glaciers) mean big poison arrows, while small edges (like tables and pillars) make for small poison arrows. Hence, while using mirrors to hide sharp edges is a proper application, you could give it a skip if you want to.
Conclusion
In conclusion, mirrors are very useful, Feng Shui-wise, and you should consider incorporating them into your home as the situation requires it.There is no need to start investing heavily in mirrors unless you do see a problem that can be addressed with one. Often, there may be other cures that you can still consider. Do be careful, however, and use your good judgment, because mirrors can cause as much harm as good if incorrectly used.

Qi should always collect in front of the door, and then gently float into the property. If your Qi is being dragged away from the door, then nothing is flowing in and everything is flowing out. How does Qi get dragged away from the door, and from the building? By Pulling Nose Water.
The name Pulling Nose Water is derived from the Qi being pulled away from the Main Door, much like a cow is led away by the nose. Whenever there is a long, narrow pathway or corridor in front of a door, the door is regarded as having a Pulling Nose Water problem.
Every school of Feng Shui stressed the importance of the main door to your home. Your main door to your home is the mouth of your home where most chi enters. Your main door will determine whether the Feng Shui of your home is good or bad.
Before even you think about improving the feng shui of your home, protecting and feng shui your main door first. Below are important feng shui tips for your main door. 1) Main door should have a protective roof. 2) Main door should be made of solid wood. 3) Main door should open inwards and have 2 leaves 4) Main door should not be under a toilet/bathroom. 5) Main door should look out to an open space 7) Main door should not face a stair case or toilet 8) Main door should have protective symbol but not a Pa Kua. 9) Main door should face one of your personal fortunate direction. 10) Main door should be located at one of your house's fortunate location. 11) Main door should be located at fortunate timely water star. 12) Size of main door should be measured to fortunate dimensions using a Feng Shui ruler.

Feng Shui is an ancient school of design, of Chinese origins. This design theory is based in the placement of objects in a room, in order to achieve a proper flow of energy or chi, as it is called by the Chinese. Finding a perfect balance and flow in a room can be difficult for those who do not understand the principles of Feng Shui; however, the following tips can help you to get a basic grasp on the ideas behind this type of design and create a comfortable living space that allows energies to flow properly through your home.
1. Mirrors in smaller spaces can create the illusion of space and make a tiny room feel more open and inviting. Mirrors also symbolize reflection in Feng Shui, so placement of mirrors is important. Look at the things that are being reflected in your mirrors, naturally, and see what kind of image they present. Avoid placing mirrors in front of clutter or other undesirable things. The reflective properties will “double” these ideas, creating problems.
2. Avoid dark areas in your home, particularly in hallways and walkways. Choose light colors for rooms without any natural light and place artificial light sources where needed. Dark spaces can be places for bad energy or evil to fester and develop. Positive chi cannot flow through these dark areas, so they are best avoided.
3. Seating is extremely important in Feng Shui, but not the amount or design of the pieces. In this design theory, where the items are facing is what is the most important. Chairs, couches, and other seating options should never leave occupants with their back to a door. In the ancient beliefs, this arrangement will keep unwanted negative energies from sneaking up on you, unsuspected.
4. Color is one of the most complicated aspects of Feng Shui. Each color represents one of five elements, and each of these elements must be used with care in conjunction with the other four. Each of these elements has a directional position where it is best used in the home. Fire colors should be used in the south areas, metal in the west, water in the north, wood in the east, and earth in the northeast and south west.
5. Clear, open pathways are important in Feng Shui, so that chi can flow freely. Open walkways through a bedroom, living space or hallway will make the room seem to be more open and comfortable, plus will leave a better feeling of balance.
One of the most important things to remember when decorating, whether you are using Feng Shui or simply rearranging your furniture, is that the comfort of those using the spaces is of the utmost importance. Assure that everyone can be comfortable and happy and you will find your living spaces not only more beautiful, but also more pleasant to be in as well. Feng Shui design can bring a wonderful level of enjoyment to the décor of your home, if done properly.
